In The Heart(worm) of America

July 29, 2017

As you look at the recently-released chart for the incidence of heartworm disease, you will see no place in the U.S.A. is worse than coastal Texas.

In the worst areas, reporting veterinary clinics saw at least 100 cases per year.

At Abshier-Meuth Animal Hospital, we diagnose many more than 100 cases per year, and we see dozens of pets yearly with failing hearts due to these parasites. Preventative medication is very effective and [a month supply] can cost as little as a trip or two to Starbucks.

Once a dog contracts heartworm disease, treatment can cost many hundreds of dollars. Please don't forget to prevent this terrible illness.
